About Poole Coastguard
As part of a nationwide team, we are the group of volunteers who cover the area from Bournemouth Pier (east side) to Keysworth Farm, near Wareham, Dorset. Providing cover 24 hours a day, we respond to a call from the MRCC (Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre), known as Portland Coastguard, based in Weymouth.
Due to our location, and the ambundance of mud flats around Poole Harbour, we specialise in mud rescue, though can be called upon to search and rescue from cliff tops to the shore line.
Our Operations room is located on Poole Quay, whilst our 4x4 Nissan vehicle is housed on the nearby industrial estate.
The eleven man team meet twice a month for training and kit night, and we can be seen patrolling the area at weekends.
This is not an official HM coastguard site. It is owned and maintained by members of the Poole Coastguard Rescue team. The views are our own and not necessarily those of the MCA.
